LAW SCHOOL BOUND NEWSLETTER - 2001 CANADIAN LAWYER LAW SCHOOL SURVEY

Richardson LSAT Preparation - Toronto, Canada

Well, it's that time of year again. Once again Canadian Lawyer

magazine has ranked Canada's law schools. Many of you know my

views on this. To repeat: Although the law schools are not the

same, they are not susceptible to a numerical ranking. Although

everybody agrees with this sentiment, the ranking continues to be

closely watched. The schools that score at the top defend the

ranking and the schools that score at the bottom criticize it.

Queen's University even posted the results of the ranking on it's

web site at: www.queensu.ca along with the title:

"Queen's law school jumps to sixth place in national survey."

Those interested should go to the Queen's University

site.

The author of the article, Kirsten McMahon suggests that the more

"black letter" law is taught the happier are the students. It

seems that many students have reached the saturation point when

it comes to ideology in the classroom.

"Grads stressed that they felt cheated out of a practical,

skills-based education and had to sit in a politically charged

classrooms listening to diatribes on feminism."
