First Year Law – Accounts Of The Opening Days

It’s like starting school all over again. What follows are the thoughts and feelings of a University Of Ottawa Law Student.

I – University Of Ottawa

“My first day at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law was inspiring. I wasn`t overwhelmed as I had expected to be, in fact, I saw that starting law school is the same as starting any school from kindergarten to undergrad.

The faculty introductions were very interesting and both the staff and  student body seem very approachable. The ease in which everyone switched from English to French and back again was amazing! I realized that this is an excellent environment for me to improve my french, it feels very ``Canadian``.

At first, I was worried that I would not find things in common with my over 200 classmates, but on the contrary I was able to connect with every single person I met. We had the same hometowns, similar undergraduate backgrounds, similar experiences with the LSATs or similar views on why we are here. I want to meet everyone, though I know it won`t be possible. We all anticipate a difficult year of hard work, but I am thankful for this incredible support group I have with me everyday. At the end of an exciting evening out, I knew that I fit in and I am very excited for this year.

Senator Romeo Dallaire spoke at the law school this morning, I was quite impressed.”
