It’s like starting school all over again. What follows are the thoughts of a student at Osgoode Hall.

The first week of law school at Osgoode has been an unforgettable
experience. I started law school with feelings of both nervousness and
excitement. I felt excited to finally begin my studies, but nervous because I did not know any other students. I also was concerned that Osgoode’s large class size (approximately 300 per year), may prove challenging to meet new friends, but my worries quickly subsided within hours of participating in orientation activities. Each first year student was placed in a section of about 75 people, all of whom travel together from class to class and share the same schedule. The orientation events were organized by section and included a downtown pub crawl, tour of Old Osgoode, Blue Jays baseball game, boat cruise, and a semi-formal. Each event was well planned and geared toward facilitating new friendships.

With respect to the curriculum, we also had a shortened class week with
introductions to each of our classes – Canadian Public Law, Contracts, Torts, Criminal, and Legal Research and Writing. While I do feel overwhelmed right now with readings, which remind me of a foreign language, all the professors seem very intelligent, friendly, and approachable. With the first week of law school coming to an end, I feel very excited for what should hopefully be an enjoyable and interesting year!
